Archery Season Underway

10.07.10:  Wow – where has the summer gone!  Not long ago it seems we were all fishing, getting together for our Wednesday Night Tournaments and talking fishin’ on a daily basis.  Now the conversation has swung to deer hunting, the confusion over the new deer hunting proposals for 2011 or later and the farmers busting their fannies to get the crops out.  It has been a wonderful fall season so far and everyday I think of how fortunate we all are to be able to have the freedoms to enjoy these kind of days.

Deer archery season is now in full swing and the warmer temperatures have definitely affected the harvest so far.  To date, we’ve had a total of 29 deer checked in and this includes the Youth Hunt held on the last weekend of September.  But as archers, we all know that the best is yet to come in the latter part of October.  By then the crops should be close to 100% out (one would think based on current activity), the temperatures should be cooling and Mother Nature will be kicking in as far as the rut is concerned.  Below are a few pictures taken this year of area archers.

Zach Remaly, Delphi with a nice 8 pt. Buck

Andy Creighton, Monticello, with a dandy early season Buck

Good Luck to all hunters and above all, be safe!
